Costco is cracking down on membership moochers

Costco is implementing stricter policies to tackle membership fraud. The retailer will now require shoppers to scan their membership cards to enter stores. Additionally, guests must be accompanied by a valid cardholder. Costco tested this system earlier this year by requiring members to scan their cards at machines placed near the store entrance. The self-checkout machines were also affected by this crackdown. Costco’s move aims to prevent non-members from receiving the same benefits and pricing as members. It comes after the company announced an increase in membership fees.
