Cup Noodles serves up notoriously poisonous pufferfish
·1 min
Pufferfish, considered a luxury in Japan, is now available in a Cup Noodle, allowing adventurous foodies to enjoy the delicacy at a fraction of the cost. Japanese instant noodle company Nissin Foods has released a pufferfish flavor, featuring a small packet of oil that condenses the essence of the fish. The noodles, priced at 298 yen ($1.90), also include dried chicken meatballs, spring onions, and Japanese-style shredded egg in a yuzu-flavored soup base. While pufferfish is highly poisonous and requires special preparation, Nissin has not disclosed how the potentially deadly flavoring is made. The company has no plans to sell the fugu-flavored noodles outside Japan.
