A powerful thunderstorm moved through Oklahoma early on Sunday, causing a reported tornado that struck the state capital. Around 1:30 a.m., it was observed that a severe thunderstorm accompanied by a tornado was progressing through eastern Oklahoma City, heading towards Midwest City and Tinker Air Force Base. Residents were urged to take immediate shelter due to the potential threat to homes, vehicles, and vegetation.

Tornado warnings were issued for over 300,000 residents in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area, covering locations such as Midwest City, Moore, and Del City, with an expiry anticipated for early Sunday. While it remains uncertain if there were any injuries or property damage, the area experienced significant rainfall and was under a flash flood warning, particularly in parts of Canadian, Grady, and Caddo counties. In the southern regions, including Duncan, Comanche, and Velma, there was a warning of hail and debris risks. Northern Texas and parts of southern and central Oklahoma were under severe thunderstorm alerts, set to expire later in the morning. This situation continues to develop.
