A light plane experienced a dramatic crash landing in Australia after losing power while flying near houses in suburban Sydney. The pilot made a mayday call to report an engine problem and successfully glided the aircraft back towards Bankstown Airport. The plane came dangerously close to trees and buildings before landing on an airport taxiway. The pilot retracted the landing gear to avoid hitting houses during the approach. The pilot and passenger emerged unscathed, grateful to have safely reached the runway. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau is considering whether to launch an investigation.
